So yea, i managed to watch this movie at the last day of screening; didn't occur to me that if i miss it i will regret it, but after the movie i would definitely say that if i ever miss it, i am gonna regret it. Why? Come on, Captain America aka Chris Evans is just beefy enough! :P
Now this movie is kinda a prequel for the upcoming movie "The Avengers" planned to be screened on 2012, let's just pray that 2012 judgment day is a rumor after all. Why? Well before this when my students tell me that there is going to be a movie that mixes up four different heroes including Captain America, Ironman, The Hulk and Thor, my view is "Not interested". Why? Because it pretty much seems like a made-for-fans-movie and not to mention it kinda has the same idea with Fantastic 4; who happens to be Chris Evans's part again, human torch anyone? Yea, i kinda dislike the made-for-fans idea, not sure why but i just don't. Yet, after watching Captain America - The First Avenger, pretty much my whole idea changes that i am SO DEFINITELY going to watch The Avengers; that's to be said, who doesn't want to watch beefy Chris Evan again? :)
Now, Captain America is kinda those heroes that do not really have superb magic power; excluding the 4x faster rate of metabolism, he pretty much is just a plain human. That to be said, i wonder what happen if you pull a trigger right at his heart? Still die right? He is so called not magically shielded; just a stronger, faster hero. However, i like this kind of hero, much more human if you wanna know why. Let's see, human torch? Supernova is cool but hey that ain't real life though.
What that really surprise me in this movie is the digital effort that the team has to go through with. At first, i thought the skinny Steve Roger (cast by Chris Evans, yep, ours captain) is cast by other people; though the face does resembles Chris Evan but hey, at some point i did manage to have a feeling that its a cut and paste. Like a skinny body actor, cut away the head and paste with reduced size Chris Evans's head. Well that's what i thought when i was watching the movie, all that i have is impressed; since it just has the maybe yes maybe no of the cut-and-paste stuff. However, when i got home and checked the internet, there is no data showing that it is a two men work; instead the skinny version and beefy version Steve Roger are both cast by the same beefy hunk i am talking about. Huh?
Yep, still Chris Evans. Impressive enough? So what the team got through is they have to take numerous shots for the same scenes involving skinny Roger, then reduce the size of the normal Chris Evan, then put it up again. Kinda technical and i can't elaborate more on that (else i will be just like doing a cut-and-paste explanation), check the google if you want to know more. One thing amazes me is the co-actors/actresses have to eye Chris Evans's chin when they were rolling the scenes with skinny Roger. Can you imagine that? That sounded funny since you won't be really watching the eyes, but the chin, then going downward what do you have...? Oops, :P
I kinda like how Chris Evans portrayed Steve Roger. Dream of becoming a protector, swear to banish violence and bully; hey, how lame it sounds, Chris Evans played it real deal. When the skinny Roger tugged the fake grenade at his stomach, that particular scene can make you feel proud of him. Oh, and that "I can do this all day" phrase, i kinda allow myself to smile and laugh from the heart.
Goddamn it, does anyone realize that Chris Evans looks way better in army suit as compared to Josh Duhamel? (Both these guys!)
Plot wise, perhaps a 3.5/5? Not really those that give you a "wow", but the fact of bringing Captain America back to 21st century is not what i expected. Only when Steve said there is no safe landing and he has to crash down the plane that i realizes and have a "Oh" in my mind. Good work there. Still why 3.5 such low? Bucky Barnes (cast by Sebastian Stan) dies too soon. Yea, i think its because of the timeline thinggie that Bucky has to die at that scene but that just too soon for me. Why? Sebastian Stan is not bad too; not as beefy as Chris Evans but cute enough. Haha! Anyhow, what that i want to say is Steve and Bucky have not really spent much time together and Bucky has to die already; that's just kinda a drawback. Well, Bucky has to die, no comment to that, else we won't have a Captain America; still, die too soon!

I am kinda impressed by the director of letting Steve to take a round dustbin cape as the first shield he used against the bully, pretty much the idea of the shield of Captain eh?
Ending? Erm, let's say it is what i should expect, though Agent Carter kinda just get cut off at that scene when Cpt crashed; duh, at least explain a bit what she up to afterward. The battle? Err, Red Skull the bad guy kinda dies, too simple. T.T Anyhow, Captain America doesn't have flashy mana skills so can't expect him to throw a mana charged shield boomerang to finish Red Skull; like playing Capcom vs Marvel this. Still, touch the cube, get absorbed, die. =.= Too simple, at least have much more fighting scenes, that should pull the trick.

Co-actors? Sebastian Stan is both cute and smart at first glance. Pretty much the eye candy before Steve gets beefy. One disappointment, too little of his scenes. The picture below got me thinking, Sebastian Stan, according to google search, is 179cm height. And yet when he looked at Chris Evans, he has a tilted angle of around 35-45 degree. Although google search shows that Chris Evans is 183cm, still what if i myself looking at Chris Evans? Pretty much that's going to be a more than 50 degree. Ouch.

Next agent Peggy Carter, a real marksmanship owner, i can't believe that she actually shot the driver in such a range. Movie or no movie, she is really someone. Haha! And i kinda respect such woman portrayed by Hayley Atwell, smart, diligent, persuasive, and all the more kick-his-balls move. hahahaha! Toast to Agent Carter! I think if anyone asks what do you remember about Hayley Atwell in the movie, most of them will answer, "you still don't know how to talk to a woman" in the British English slang. hahaha! That one did make our captain blurred for a while!
Alrighty, this movie, if you haven't watched it, is really a movie worth the cents, but don't watch it in 3D though; yep i did and i regret that. Because it is not flashy and digital enough to need a 3D specs for ya to enjoy it. nope, nothing really 3D there. So, a 2D will surely do the trick. If you are one of those that just won't miss a beefy hero, come on, Chris Evans is enough to send you drooling. Enjoy the beefy sirloin!
When Agent Carter asked how was he, he said, "Taller". I think you should say, "beefy." !!!
p/s: Why Captain America is the first Avenger when Thor, as a God, shouldn't be way more "early" than Captain America?
pp/s: End of post, let's Chris Evans awhile~
