Conan the Barbarian - Another Hunky Beef!

Well, thanks to this Hari Raya season, i managed to pay numerous visits to the cinema that i kinda doubt whether the ticket seller recognized me or no. Haha! Yep, so as i waited for my warung to open at the night market, i spent my afternoon of 29 Aug at the Growball Cineplex. Actually i planned to watch Cowboy and Aliens (Daniel Craig! *melt*) but didn't manage to due to unmatch timetable. So, out of all the movies that are available, only Conan fitted the timetable so, of not really interested to see this movie, i watched it.
Notice the biceps? XD

To be honest, i am not really interested in the whole plot thing as when i read the synopsis of the movie, it pretty much like any kind of RPG games that you can mention. So what that really attracted me in this movie is the male lead, of course, by Jason Momoa. God, that beefy body. Pretty much sent me into amusement when he first on screen.

He definitely can match the "rock abs, big guns"
of those men fitness magazine

If you haven't watched this movie, its not really a waste to watch it, either in 2D or 3D. Well i watched 2D because no 3D slot for this movie. In terms of 3D wise, i think you will be able to see a 3D more realistic beefy hunk standing in front of you (:P). Plot wise, as i said, is very repeating as the usual this-type-movie. So there is not really anything to expect, but in the middle does lie a surprise element that even i don't see it coming; its not plot-related. Its Jason Momoa related, so if you haven't watched it, do so because you will go @_@.

For the main female lead, i gotta say she is kinda a stern one; in which i always expect the female lead in this kind of movie will be portrayed much soft and noble alike. Well, not for this though.
I like her eyes, somehow.

She is very special in her way, acted in a way that you won't really hate her, and at point amazed of her courage to fight off the evil. Woots! New improvement in such movie eh?

So, if you haven't watched this movie, once again, i do encourage you to watch it. Either as a fulfillment of your childhood cartoon dream, or simply to watch some evil sorcery, or to watch a sex between Jason Momoa and Rachel Nichols; or to simply admire Jason Momoa's body, it still a great one to worth your ringgits. So do go ahead and buy this ticket, BUT please do be reminded that if you have a problem with blood and slaughter, consider getting a plastic bag to puke on. Yes, its very violent.
Very dramatic the effect is.
So, general rating: 3.5/5

At the end of this post, let's admire his body again, XD

Upcoming post: Cowboy and Aliens - Daniel Craig!

Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Oh Crap!

Seriously, i had been asking around the people regarding the movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes vs Cowboy and Aliens. I asked which one is better? All replied that Apes is a better choice than Cowboy. So last Friday, i spent my evening watching Apes, with a sleepy mood, luckily not a 3D price, else i would definitely bang my head against the world. Seriously, not as what they described as it seemed to be.

Well, the problem is not the digital tech and all, of course, which the digital tech does make everything looks fine. The problem is the plot, in which many of the ideas, well you can expect it that flow like a script in your head. And that's what they called, boring.

Anyhow, this movie does manage to spark a little more than that. It shows the cruelty of humanity. Experimenting on gene therapy has been going on ever since DNA field made the milestone century ago. Mice, monkeys; two of these have always been the usual targets of the experiments, speak of DNA relativity towards the human.

So, in this movie, the target is the ape, which when the gene therapy coded ALZ-12 is used, a female ape managed to incorporate that gene into itself that it produces extended intelligent that should not be seen in mammal. There goes everything is fine until it gave birth to a new baby ape, and she died protecting her own baby; unknowing that she actually was wrong. Well, who to tell animals' instinct as wrong when humans tried to catch her?

And there goes the baby ape, which inherited the new found intelligent of his mother, but become an orphan just right after he was laying in the floor of Gen-tech. Well, of course the main male cast is not going to abandon him, and Caesar is raised in a home.

That's the front part, please do watch the movie for the later part. In most that i think, the director did not finish up the story. ALZ-13, a new remodeled virus to so called off-set the degradation of ALZ-12 works well in apes but not human. The neighbor of the main male actor, Will Rodman (cast by James Franco) is infected with the virus ALZ-13, and yea he is going to die soon. But he is also a pilot, so the last place that he flied to as an infected person, yep, New York. Then the movie ends here.

The first thing that came into my mind is, "what the?" The second thing that came into my mind is, "there is a sequel to this?!" Oh crap. I hate it that way though, i was expecting it is a full movie. So yea, Ape 2 Ape 3 Ape 4 perhaps if 2012 doesn't doom the world.

General opinion, 3/5. Reason-
1. Not really a wow movie in which everything you should be able to guess even though you don't know jack squat about the movie.
2. 3D vs 2D? 2D, why bother a 3D when there isn't anything that digital.
3. Weak ending, in which when it ends you most probably will be like, "what?"
4. Surprise elements: there got two there, enjoyed that though.
5. Not really have a very eye-catching actors, but actress is good.

p/s: Next up, "Conan the Barbarian - Another hunky beef!"
pp/s: As this post mentioned Cowboy and Aliens, that one is scheduled to be watched on coming Saturday.

Captain America - The Beefy Hero!

So yea, i managed to watch this movie at the last day of screening; didn't occur to me that if i miss it i will regret it, but after the movie i would definitely say that if i ever miss it, i am gonna regret it. Why? Come on, Captain America aka Chris Evans is just beefy enough! :P

Now this movie is kinda a prequel for the upcoming movie "The Avengers" planned to be screened on 2012, let's just pray that 2012 judgment day is a rumor after all. Why? Well before this when my students tell me that there is going to be a movie that mixes up four different heroes including Captain America, Ironman, The Hulk and Thor, my view is "Not interested". Why? Because it pretty much seems like a made-for-fans-movie and not to mention it kinda has the same idea with Fantastic 4; who happens to be Chris Evans's part again, human torch anyone? Yea, i kinda dislike the made-for-fans idea, not sure why but i just don't. Yet, after watching Captain America - The First Avenger, pretty much my whole idea changes that i am SO DEFINITELY going to watch The Avengers; that's to be said, who doesn't want to watch beefy Chris Evan again? :)

Now, Captain America is kinda those heroes that do not really have superb magic power; excluding the 4x faster rate of metabolism, he pretty much is just a plain human. That to be said, i wonder what happen if you pull a trigger right at his heart? Still die right? He is so called not magically shielded; just a stronger, faster hero. However, i like this kind of hero, much more human if you wanna know why. Let's see, human torch? Supernova is cool but hey that ain't real life though.

What that really surprise me in this movie is the digital effort that the team has to go through with. At first, i thought the skinny Steve Roger (cast by Chris Evans, yep, ours captain) is cast by other people; though the face does resembles Chris Evan but hey, at some point i did manage to have a feeling that its a cut and paste. Like a skinny body actor, cut away the head and paste with reduced size Chris Evans's head. Well that's what i thought when i was watching the movie, all that i have is impressed; since it just has the maybe yes maybe no of the cut-and-paste stuff. However, when i got home and checked the internet, there is no data showing that it is a two men work; instead the skinny version and beefy version Steve Roger are both cast by the same beefy hunk i am talking about. Huh?

Yep, still Chris Evans. Impressive enough? So what the team got through is they have to take numerous shots for the same scenes involving skinny Roger, then reduce the size of the normal Chris Evan, then put it up again. Kinda technical and i can't elaborate more on that (else i will be just like doing a cut-and-paste explanation), check the google if you want to know more. One thing amazes me is the co-actors/actresses have to eye Chris Evans's chin when they were rolling the scenes with skinny Roger. Can you imagine that? That sounded funny since you won't be really watching the eyes, but the chin, then going downward what do you have...? Oops, :P

I kinda like how Chris Evans portrayed Steve Roger. Dream of becoming a protector, swear to banish violence and bully; hey, how lame it sounds, Chris Evans played it real deal. When the skinny Roger tugged the fake grenade at his stomach, that particular scene can make you feel proud of him. Oh, and that "I can do this all day" phrase, i kinda allow myself to smile and laugh from the heart.
Goddamn it, does anyone realize that Chris Evans looks way better in army suit as compared to Josh Duhamel? (Both these guys!)

Plot wise, perhaps a 3.5/5? Not really those that give you a "wow", but the fact of bringing Captain America back to 21st century is not what i expected. Only when Steve said there is no safe landing and he has to crash down the plane that i realizes and have a "Oh" in my mind. Good work there. Still why 3.5 such low? Bucky Barnes (cast by Sebastian Stan) dies too soon. Yea, i think its because of the timeline thinggie that Bucky has to die at that scene but that just too soon for me. Why? Sebastian Stan is not bad too; not as beefy as Chris Evans but cute enough. Haha! Anyhow, what that i want to say is Steve and Bucky have not really spent much time together and Bucky has to die already; that's just kinda a drawback. Well, Bucky has to die, no comment to that, else we won't have a Captain America; still, die too soon!

I am kinda impressed by the director of letting Steve to take a round dustbin cape as the first shield he used against the bully, pretty much the idea of the shield of Captain eh?

Ending? Erm, let's say it is what i should expect, though Agent Carter kinda just get cut off at that scene when Cpt crashed; duh, at least explain a bit what she up to afterward. The battle? Err, Red Skull the bad guy kinda dies, too simple. T.T Anyhow, Captain America doesn't have flashy mana skills so can't expect him to throw a mana charged shield boomerang to finish Red Skull; like playing Capcom vs Marvel this. Still, touch the cube, get absorbed, die. =.= Too simple, at least have much more fighting scenes, that should pull the trick.
Co-actors? Sebastian Stan is both cute and smart at first glance. Pretty much the eye candy before Steve gets beefy. One disappointment, too little of his scenes. The picture below got me thinking, Sebastian Stan, according to google search, is 179cm height. And yet when he looked at Chris Evans, he has a tilted angle of around 35-45 degree. Although google search shows that Chris Evans is 183cm, still what if i myself looking at Chris Evans? Pretty much that's going to be a more than 50 degree. Ouch.
Next agent Peggy Carter, a real marksmanship owner, i can't believe that she actually shot the driver in such a range. Movie or no movie, she is really someone. Haha! And i kinda respect such woman portrayed by Hayley Atwell, smart, diligent, persuasive, and all the more kick-his-balls move. hahahaha! Toast to Agent Carter! I think if anyone asks what do you remember about Hayley Atwell in the movie, most of them will answer, "you still don't know how to talk to a woman" in the British English slang. hahaha! That one did make our captain blurred for a while!
Alrighty, this movie, if you haven't watched it, is really a movie worth the cents, but don't watch it in 3D though; yep i did and i regret that. Because it is not flashy and digital enough to need a 3D specs for ya to enjoy it. nope, nothing really 3D there. So, a 2D will surely do the trick. If you are one of those that just won't miss a beefy hero, come on, Chris Evans is enough to send you drooling. Enjoy the beefy sirloin!

When Agent Carter asked how was he, he said, "Taller". I think you should say, "beefy." !!!

p/s: Why Captain America is the first Avenger when Thor, as a God, shouldn't be way more "early" than Captain America?

pp/s: End of post, let's Chris Evans awhile~

Harry Potter - R. I. P.

This is seriously a late post.

Finally i watched Harry Potter, well not exactly i watched it today, but i did watch it back when it was already screened for two weeks. Now, i have to say,

i don't really have high hope for the last past of this movie; i don't know, its just so. Reason? I think it pretty much is because the fact that you have probably guessed out all the mysteries even you didn't read the book; for one, i didn't read the book but i probably had the whole script in my head before watching it.

This is why i always against that the last movie is divided into two parts. Well yea, to respect the book and the author, the director can't really shorten everything into one movie, which practically cut off many scenes by then. However, dividing it into two part doesn't seem much a brilliant idea since well, audiences can guess out the part 2 and thus leave a feeling of unsatisfied.

Yep, i have asked around; a lot did say that it kinda dull. Anyhow, let's stop the ranting and review it already.

The movie itself is kinda okay, didn't watch the 3D to save some money for better films, overall is just giving the audience the sum of the plot. If you happen to be one of those that didn't watch Ep1 until Ep7 part 1, don't worry. This is because Part 2 is going to give you a whole movie rewind from Ep1. So you won't really feel out of connection since you are going to be connected again.

The plot? Nothing much, because it is going to way i predicted; exactly. The only surprise would be when Gryffindor sword reappeared in the Sorting Hat during the last battle with Voldemort. Well, who would expct Nevile Longbottom to be as the chosen all of a sudden? Hahaha.

As for the ending, oh yea, how amazing that Harry, Ron and Hermione, including Ginny, were made up to be adults; they even have kids! hahahaha, that's the funny part.

Anyhow, Harry Potter series finally ended. Unlike any other fans that happen to so want another movie to do with it, i practically don't. Why? It is dragged way too long. When something is dragged so much, it loses the whole meaning to it. So, it ends well; although part 2 is less amazing than i expected to be, still, like the Eldest Wand, be snapped and be thrown.

The End.

Ranting

Ranting, according to www.thefreedictionary.com/ranting, is defined as:
v. rant·ed, rant·ing, rants
v.intr.
To speak or write in an angry or violent manner; rave.
v.tr.
To utter or express with violence or extravagance: a dictator who ranted his vitriol onto a captive audience.
n.
1. Violent or extravagant speech or writing.
2. A speech or piece of writing that incites anger or violence: "The vast majority [of teenagers logged onto the Internet] did not encounter recipes for pipe bombs or deranged
rants about white supremacy" (Daniel Okrent).
3. Chiefly British Wild or uproarious merriment.

So, practically, it means RANTING aka complaining here and there, which most of the time, is meaningless. No, the dictionary did not have the "meaningless" added into the definition, i add it. Why? Because i saw a lot of ranting, lately.

This gotta traced back into the day i became the timb.exco of my course, industrial chemistry, in my own faculty, the School of Science and Technology. Well, not that i did not hear of any sorta the same type of complaints, but its just that i heard more, and wider aspects after i became one.
Ok, my course friends from Peninsular Malaysia aka Semanjung aka KL-langs, Johorians, Melakans, etc always complain to me that Sabah is a place where birds do not lay eggs (鸟不生蛋), sorry the translation is abit of rough; simply a literally. It means where a place that is so under developed that even the animals do not want to live here. Seriously, does it sound so? Last time i checked, Sabah is still one of the states with the widest area of forest, oh, does anyone remember forest is the nursery of animals?

Then, there is a girl comes from a state, not going to mention it to prevent state fight, said that she was so scared to come to Sabah at first, because she was expecting herself to live in a God-knows-where-full-of-orang utans-and-treehouses state. Yea, living up on a treehouse. You know at that moment i so wanted to raise my orang utan-alike hand and said, "ah, miss, it happens that the tree house that i live in, as you said, has a very modern equipment such as wi-fi, water and electricity supply, tv, laptop and air-con, oh, not to mention Astro." Check the books inside your head, did you actually read something that said Sabah is such underdeveloped that we still live on top of tree house? Yea, its a very green friendly tree house in that case.

After that, even more rants saying Sabah has a very high living cost. Everything is costly here. Range from the food you eat everyday, to the clothes you wear everyday, and to the transport fee you use everyday; costly. Seriously, don't blame on Sabah for this. Those that come from Semanjung seems to forgot that the electricity that won't stop for 24/7 at there is generated from Sarawak mostly followed by Sabah. The furniture that they sit on mostly are the woods cut from Sabah and Sarawak. Oh, not to mention that the petrol, which they complain for sky high price, they used everyday comes directly from Sarawak mostly again. Ah, what about cooking oil? Anyone of you happens to go to a Sabah local store and the worker tells you cooking oil is having a crisis? Yep, its a shortage now. Wait wait, i thought Sabah has the most kelapa sawit fields? Where does the cooking oil go then? Ah, isn't it to the other side again?

Well of course there are more from my own friends, but i don't feel like listing them one by one, its tiring. Now there is a girl, argued back to me that, Sabah is underdeveloped, Sabah is having high cost of living standard, is all because of the Sabahans are not fighting for their own rights, where they should have voted government out. Okay okay, that sounds like a hard proof, and hard to deny, isn't it? Weak state government, manipulated by the federal, that's what you got. But hey, do you really think voting the unbalanced scale out, making the rocket wins will change the fate of Sabah? Think again, because all of you needs the materials and supplies from us. One day your men do not change the mindset of treating us fairly, my homeland will always been rotting.

Okay, let's move to the next part. Since i became the member of student council, i have access to several facebook groups, include my own council, then also of course the university student council aka my council's boss, then also include several non-official university groups. There, these are the places that i totally feel that the youngsters today are, totally, WEAK.

You can read any kind of status and messages at those groups. Let's see, there is a girl asking about the hostel of my university whether it has a individual toilet or still the old school public sharing toilet. Something like this, how will be hostel alike? How will be the toilet like? Seriously, this is by far the most offensive post i ever read. What the hell is wrong with these juniors that they scared the university is not going to be like the University of Harvard? Come on, learn to survive? How can you seriously expect everything is yours without sharing? Get a private house then.

Then there is also a guy asking is the air ticket of travelling from Semanjung to here will be reimbursed by the university. I practically stared at that post with my eyes so wide that i swear i could have won a world record of my own self, yea, my eyes are small. Who the hell do they think they really are? Some Very-Important(Idiotic)-Persons? Not even a single VIPs that i know of actually have their tickets paid by university, not to mention you an undergraduate 20-years-old ranting kid? Come on, wake up. You come here to learn, to study, to grow, and the university has to pay you to come? Might as well slash you from the list then.

In addition, there also have people that complained about the skipping of orientation week. What's the usage of orientation if you do not come within that week? You want to know of this and that of this particular going-to-spend-three-to-four-years university yet you do not want to join the orientation week? Although there are just too much of talks that you need to attend to during that week, but it is really informative and at least give you an insight of how will you be living at here; no matter how mundane the speech could be, no matter how boring does the professor look.

All in all, if i were to list out all the rants from them, i think people will not mind to read it because it will be very long. All that i am asking is, you come to my homeland for study, whether you like it or not, whether you are forced to or not, whether you are willing to or not, treat my homeland fair and with respect. This land is not just land for you to step on, to shit on, then to leave after that few years. Treat it with respect and this land below the wind will give you back something even you won't find it at your own hometown. What more that Sabah is regarded the most "1-Malaysia" state? You will be amazed by how peaceful and united are the Sabahans at there, regardless of their skin colors, and their faith.

Quit ranting and start learning.

Fish and Chips

Its been ages that i renew the post here, so yep, cleaning the dusty blog of mine. :)

Well, actually i have long been wanted to update my blog, but recently something caught my attention so i ended up get through that matter before i post something up. Yep, it definitely is a title-related matter.

How long have i been not fallen for anyone? Not entirely sure, but hey, the feeling is really something extraordinary when you fall for someone; although it is still the wrong one but i am satisfied with what i have been through, at least i grow from this experience. Strike fast, hold the ground, and act spontaneously. Target won't stand there and wait for me to go for it, i have to walk my way to it.
a Malay-flavored, top with slices of green apples,
perfected with a degree of heart-melting temperature perhaps?

Definitely something that i never did before, i am too routine-based, everything got to be scheduled, planned, with clear proceed steps, and of course not to mention an obvious back-up plan or even a well planned backtrack method; like an escape route?

However, the more i get to become a planning guy, subconsciously, it is also the factor that causing me to become less and less challenging. I don't take up challenge because risk is higher than safe. I don't make moves because i scare to fall instead of savoring the progress. I scare to run because i fear for a hell hound chasing me behind. Screw them, no one is chasing me, other than myself. The fact of i lose the ability to appreciate challenges, surprises and of course non-planned actions, is wholly because of the fact that i am scared to lose.

Go to hell with it. After this time, i really learn that i am too used to be in my comfy zone. Getting too much comfortable certainly won't make me have any fuel to go for a longer road. Its time to step out from the zone, and wander down the valley shoe-less, perhaps taste various kinds of ice cream before i actually get diagnosed diabetes, why not running wild under the rain even though i might get burnt by the acid rain?

Life is short, make it worth. Too much precautions certainly make us live a way more dull life. Thanks to you that let me know this, even though i know that things won't really have a chance to work out, but i certainly know that you made me grow. Ah, baby, make that smile again, and that pair of eyes again, wish you the best with who you love and be with now. :)

p/s: why Fish and Chips? Well, that's the idea. :P
