Cowboys and Aliens - The Bad Boys Kicking!

Now, if you remember at the previous two posts where i mentioned about this movie, i originally entitled the post as "Cowboys and Aliens - Daniel Craig!". However, as i just watched the movie yesterday, i figured that it would be nicer to change the title into "Cowboys and Aliens -The Bad Boys Kicking!". Why? Because apparently, Daniel Craig, no matter how sexy and hot he is, is not only the star in this movie, we also have Harrison Ford a.k.a. Uncle Indiana Jones in this movie! Then we also have Sam Rockwell, in which i don't quite remember any movies that he led but i do recognize him that played a great messed-up-bartender, and also not to mention a brand new eye candy in this movie, Adam Beach, a Canadian Saulteaux, who cast as the wing-man of Harrison Ford; who says only the British boys and White Americans are hot? Wait till you see the American natives. All in all, this movie is just cast by a lot of different guys, which portrayed a significant blur line of good and evil, therefore might as well named the title "Cowboys and Aliens - The Bad Boys Kicking!" (you will know why there is not a clear opposition of good and evil)
Practically the symbolic move of this movie. XD

Okay, generally, this movie is an awesome piece of work. For those who commented to me that "Rise of the Planets of the Apes" is better than Cowboys, i will surely vote an opposition ticket to you. Sorry, if you have read my review on Apes, you will know what it is because the title has already said it all, "Oh crap!". If you think the plot of Apes let you have a broad thinking of humanity, cruelty, empathy and respect, wait till you actually watch Cowboys; the twisting plot, the way it portrayed, it can surely bring along a wider and deeper perspective in understanding what we say as good or bad. Here goes the deal, when you watch Apes, you will have a, "okay, Caesar is going to do this." "Caesar is going to do that." feeling all the while you watch the 1 and a half hour. However, in Cowboys, don't put up the judge so soon. It will be just like reading a finely plotted novel, in which the first few chapters do not give you a clear insight of who are you going to deal with; instead, it throws you into a mist of confusion of who are the badass after all. (well for Cowboys its obvious, the Aliens; but how are the Cowboys ever have their fate and destiny cross with the evil, murderous and gross grey headed Aliens? Now that's something)
The core three, from left Olivia Wilder (Ella S.),
Daniel Craig (Jake L.), Harrison Ford (C. Dolarhyde)

As for plot wise, i think most of the people give it a negative comment due to the significant difference of most of the movies you watched today. Okay, let's just make a comparison, The Beefy Hero a.k.a Captain American, anyone? Yep, for the whole one and a half hour of Chris Evans running super-humanly, the most important relationship web to be developed will be Steve Rogers-James "Bucky" Barnes-Peggy Carter. Any more co-actors that you have to pay your attention with? Well not exactly except you might have to pay much attention towards Dr. Abraham Erskine and the badass Red Face. Others? Sorry but if you can throw them to the dustbin, you won't really remember much. Just a simple quiz, how many crew were in Cpt. America's team? Errr.... is it five? Or six. Oh screw, i get it correct at first. Yea, five.
Goddammit, i hate it when Daniel Craig stood with his back towards
us because my eyes will automatically look downward! Argh~!

However, in Cowboys and Aliens, for that extra 15 minutes, yea roughly 1 and 45 minutes of movie, you get to understand more other than Mr. Sexy a.k.a Daniel Craig. Frankly speaking, its not just Daniel Craig (roled Jake Lonergan) you are looking at.
-The relationship between the priest, Meacham (cast by Clancy Brown) that tended Lonergan's wound, and also the teacher-student scene of priest and doc (cast by Sam Rockwell, a.k.a. also the bartender).
Sam Rockwell the Doc: Ugh, do we really stand a chance in fighting these aliens?
Uncle Indiana Jones: Well, i have my revolver and you have your shotgun?
Sam Rockwell the Doc: I might as well call Doraemon, the aliens are using Plasma Beam!
Uncle Indiana Jones: Well, perhaps the Native Americans have something up in their spears and arrows?

-The relationship between the sheriff of the town, Taggart (cast by Keith Carradine), and his grandson, Emmett Targart (cast by Noah Ringer) towards the missing of his parents.
-The relationship of Colonel Woodrow Dolarhyde (cast by Harrison Ford) towards his own son Percy Dolarhyde (cast by Paul Dano) and also the boy he saved who became his wing-man, Nat Colorado (cast by Adam Beach).
-The relationship between the messed up Doc and his wife Maria (cast by Ana de la Reguera).
-well of course not to forget the relationship between Mr. Sexy Jake Lonergan and the mysterious woman Ella Swenson (cast by Olivia Wilde).
Adam Beach aka Nat Colorado; a Native American eyecandy eh?

You see, in a 1 and 45 minutes of movie, you got to explore these five relationships; and that's not just it. There are more that i didn't put up due to extensive spoiler consideration, in which also played a big part in the understanding of the whole plot. Well i do see that people start to get impatient and sleepy after a while because its not focusing on Daniel Craig; not to mention there is not hot and sexy scene like the "Conan the Barbarian" and also the actions part are kinda less in the front but become much extensive at the later.
Daniel Craig: What? I carried you for the fucking long distance
and you just reborn in a minute?!
Olivia Wilde: Oh come on, i don't even know i'm a phoenix!

(Something about Olivia Wilde, she played Alex in The O.C. and also Quorra in Tron Legacy!)
So, if you are one of those that is impatient, like my brother, you will comment that you want to sleep. Well too bad you did not see the in depth perspective that the director wants you to see. First hint, Colonel Dolarhyde doesn't be as bad as he first looks like, and second hint, Nat Colorado doesn't seem to be a Mr. Nice Guy as he first seen as. All in all, i would give a very good comment to the director's method of portraying this movie, maybe i should crack up more on Jim Favreau's products.
Another reason why this movie is entitled "The Bad Boys",
they are all "dirty" and rough! Haha!

Another most significant mark of this movie is the soundtrack. Now i am not really keen in remembering the OSTs of a movie, per se. Other that musical movies, dramas, if you ever to ask me what songs were in Captain America i will give you a big question mark. However, the biggest memory Cowboys gave me, in fact, is the first OST it played at the beginning and the last that gave me a feeling of long, lost in the bewilderment in a hot, arid, dried Western Mexico and canyon. Click it, and try it; its considered a big surprise for this movie :P

One thing i would like to mention is, is Daniel Craig leaner as compared to Casino Royale? Let's see.
this is the one in Cowboys and Aliens
this is the one in Casino Royale
Notice the difference? Yes, in Casino Royale, he is much beefy, buff, and hunky; still youthful if you were to say. But in Cowboys and Aliens, he is much leaner, the shoulder muscle get leaner, and he looks much older. I don't know whether it is purposely made it this way to fit the role of Jake Lonergan or else, but still he looks good to me. :P

So, in overall, i will give this movie a 4.5/5.0. Why?
-Great cast, Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde, Harrison Ford
-Great supporting roles, Sam Rockwell, Noah Ringer, Clancy Brown, Adam Beach
-Great plot, twisting, mind-challenging, oh you think Jake Lonergan is a Mr. Nice? Think again.
-Great OST, "Jake Lonergan" by Harry Gregson-Williams is one the best so far.
-Great actions, aliens vs humans, where humans only have revolver and spears?
-Unique ending, aha! Don't think of happily ever after if you have such an OST.

So, in conclusion, this is by far a better movie as compared to Apes. 2D vs 3D? 2D. Nothing much 3D anyway. Be ready to have some serious violence though, you will see how "uiuk" can it be when it comes to the battle. AS always, at the end of this post, let's Daniel Craig a while~
Oh damn, when is there another James Bond eh?
p/s: Daniel Craig's eyes are crystal blue, but then in the movie i felt like i saw Emerald Green? Can anyone confirm this?
